Normally if you don't meet the homegrown quota you leave that spot empty. You can't register a player who is not under contract. On the importance of dual registration, I agree they have been very useful for a number of our youngsters - Freya, Reid, Laila, Agyemang...

I don't think a player under 18 has ever been registered. Plus it wouldn't make sense. They can still play so why not get a senior homegrown player and register them in that spot?

Once we had mastered that we moved to the next phases which involved discipline without the ball (backline with 4 CBs comfortable with the ball) and have a box dominator (which Havertz is filling for now). They weren't in our long term plans, but they fulfilled their roles.

I don't think Jesus was bad value. Zinchenko and him were bought to facilitate a change in how we play, especially on the ball. MA was going for midfield creativity and mentality and that's what he got with them. They were meant for our phase 1.
