“Dunia” means Earth.
Our Goal is simple: To build the engine that discovers the materials of the future for this planet.
Because every leap in human history began with a material.

🧱 Turning air into building materials?

Here’s how we’re making it happen in a world-first direct air capture project in Norfolk.

Scientists who switch research fields face a “pivot penalty,” receiving fewer citations than peers who stay put. A massive analysis of 26M papers shows that venturing into new territory may slow academic impact even as it broadens horizons. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Find more in our research, led by @unpopularscience.bsky.social. In Table 1, we show that carnivorous fish farms for seabass, bream, and salmon require 2 to 5 kilos of wild caught fish for every 1 kilo of farmed fish they produce. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

When the team were building Mission Zero, it was specifically with a view to use CO2 taken directly from the atmosphere to displace carbon from fossil fuels - this is a world-first validation of that idea and it's massively exciting to see it live.
🎉 Our second DAC plant is live — as covered by BBC News!

Say hello to the world’s first fully integrated DAC-to-building materials production process. 🪨

📣 We’ve arrived!

At Mission Zero, we know the sky’s the limit — and right now, our atmosphere could use a little help.

Since 2020, we’ve been rapidly scaling direct air capture technology to tackle the excessive amount of CO₂ already in our atmosphere.

Brilliant @theguardian.com article by @samirashackle.bsky.social on @clientearth.bsky.social and Monica Feria-Tinta. I love the idea of forests and rivers having rights as persons, arming them to fight against companies, that other unlikely set of legal persons. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
‘All other avenues have been exhausted’: Is legal action the only way to save the planet?
The long read: Monica Feria-Tinta is one of a growing number of lawyers using the courts to make governments around the world take action

💥"This is what happens when we allow the world’s most bureaucratic institutions to gatekeep the future of civilization."💥

Some great stuff from Ben on motivations for unbundling universities.

I particularly loved "Stop requiring university affiliations for grants" as an actionable conclusion.
I wrote an extended essay attempting to:

- Synthesize the zeitgeist around universities, our research ecosystem, and technological stagnation

- Argue that part of the solution unbundling the roles the university has monopolized

- Suggest concrete actions to do that

Mark1: a project development accelerator, is now open for applications. Objective is to get first of a kind climatetech projects financed within 18 months, all underwritten by EPCs and philanthropies
Interesting: Mark1 is a "developer-as-a-service for capital intensive, first of a kind climate projects that will help technology startups deploy their first commercial-scale projects." Startups can apply for access to financial/engineering/etc. experts, financiers, & offtakers. Cool idea.
