Absolutely amazing book presentation on "IT TAKES THREE TO TANGO: The true story of a fictitious romance in the correspondence of Ivan Ostafiichuk and Natalka Husar,” with Husar, Natalia Khanenko-Friesen and Oleksandr Pankieiev. BUY THIS BOOK! Fascinating, fun, vibrant, and beautiful to look at.

Compelling talk by Alessio Ponzio - new director of MacEwan University’s Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity - on “Queering History: Silences, Whispers and Screams.” I loved his point of letting the past have the space to let us hear its whispers instead of imposing our loud needs of today.

Castor and I have decided that our new family member’s name is Luna (for obvious reasons). I think she’s a little spooked that we figured out she reigns the seas and the skies. She hides her power in her tiny frame. But her abundance of toes betrays her.

Thank you to all the members of my new University of Alberta + Edmonton community for creating a receptive space for Christina Sharpe’s spellbinding readings from her forthcoming book “What Could a Vessel Be?”. Here pictured my friend Jill Ehnenn (one of the many passionate organizers)

Just was lucky enough to listen to an amazing talk by Héctor Muiños Olivas delivered at the @hanse-ias.bsky.social . What a thought-provoking discussion of how to write fiction/history/ and everything in between. I can't wait until his novel on John Tyndall comes out.

The Central European History Convention (CEH-C) was a huge success. The team, led by Peter Becker + Dominique Reill, are processing everything so people get paid + recognized appropriately. If you were there, share pics with us so we can include/archive them? ucloud.univie.ac.at/index.php/s/...

Have been sending out oodles of follow-up emails to the CEH-C conference and I can now declare one of the things that frustrates me the most: PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE THEIR EMAILS LISTED ON THEIR CVs! Please, everyone, add your email addresses in plane sight whenever/wherever!

For everyone who participated in the Central European History Convention this week, we made the evening news in Austria last night! Check out timecode 20:01-20:16, where you'll see the quick CEH-C shout out (as well as pics of Peter Becker, Maureen Healey, Rob Nemes etc) on.orf.at/video/142846...

Needed thanks to Peter Becker, @dominiquereill.bsky.social , and everyone who worked tirelessly to conceptualize the events, find the funding, and give voices and opportunities to young scholars in particular.
