I think that by having the thought of “news finds me” results in less people voting because they are not actively seeking out what candidates want or what they want, rather they are waiting until something major happens before they choose who to vote for. #UWJ201 #318

I think to 9/11 given how widespread and how major of a national tragedy it was. Also the Boston Bombing in which mass communication was hindered by confusion and how that created many rumors. #UWJ201 #318

I believe that there is a mixed bias just like you but I do believe there is a more bias from the people not the media, mainly due to the thought of the NYT with Fox News titles and people already crating opinions on if it was bias or not. #UWJ201 #318

I think at this point there are many companies who have set themselves on one side or the other, however, it is not uncommon for a bias to change over time and I do that is realistic but it will never fully go away. #UWJ201 #318

I do think that many gen z people will fall victim to misinformation due to the abundance of it on social media as you said. #UWJ201 #318

While it has slowly started to make less sense I do enjoy Dr. Pepper’s Fansville commercials during the college football season as it is like a tv show through ads which made it really engaging. #UWJ201 #318

100% Whenever I have watched the news I have always felt anxious and more worried about the issues that plague our world. This leads me to being worried about things happening in my neighborhood that won’t or can’t happen simply because it happened on TV. #UWJ201 #318

I think that there is a big part of mean world syndrome that comes from social media as while there may be less fictional violence there are more videos of real violence that are shown which could lead to the believe that the world is worse than it is. #UWJ201 #318

This made me think about lecture where if one frame was shown it persuaded someone and for competing frames people went back to their beliefs. So I think usually one can be persuaded unless there are competing frames in which emotional appeal does not work as well in persuading. #UWJ201 #318

I believe that there has been a slight decline in the impact on an audience but more of a decline in how long we react to something. We do react to stories like the one you mentioned but we seemingly don’t spend as much time on it anymore, rather just move away from it after a week. #UWJ201 #318

I believe agenda setting can cause us to feel different emotions. I think of when the US spent 7 million towards “Funding Magic” which sounds like a waste but it really was funding the MAGIC fund which benefitted the city of Minot, ND (Millions ‘Spent on Magic’-Newsweek Dec. 14, 2024). #UWJ201 #318

Hi Lily, great question. It makes me think back to when Professor Wagner said how Local News is the most trusted source of news; so by monopolizing them a bias can be implemented resulting in misinformation at the most trusted level. #UWJ201 #318

This is a really intriguing question. I think that both will eventually, however, at the moment it appears as though one side has a better grip on how to use a hybrid media campaign. In the future I can see both parties using this strategy to gain more attention. #UWJ201 #318

I really like the question you posed. I feel threaten whenever I see a targeted ad that shows something near where I live given I am not from a large city, however, it is nice whenever I see similar ads from before as it gives a “safe” feeling even if it isn’t. #UWJ201 #318
