And currently about 100 pages into this detailed and intimate portrait of the daughter/father relationship of three of the main characters at the Yalta conference. A brand new insight, enjoying it a lot.

Caroline Shelton’s book hits the sweet spot for me, art and military history. A fabulous story of British ingenuity, planning and logistical organisation to evacuate the major art collections from London. A great set of “characters” armed country ladies, conservators, and train enthusiasts. WNTL.

This is a fantastic set of biographies focusing on the small group of female journalists and photographers who managed to work on the frontline during the war. The sections on Lee Miller are particularly good, but each protagonist tells an incredible story of resilience and perseverance.

Lara Feigel’s book is a study of rising frustrations, antipathy and anger as the war comes to a close. It tracks lost opportunities to rebuild and renew, seen through the eyes of journalists, writers and entertainers who followed the allied armies into Germany. Brutal, and thoughtful.

Next is a bit of a rarity…
An incredibly detailed and important book about electronic warfare in the Second World War.
Clayton was an early and significant member of the WAAF who helped set up, manage and run much of Y service in UK and Mediterranean. Never knew how advanced this part of the war was

Fascinating setting up my account here. Trying to find as many people from the “other site” as possible to recreate my community. There are loads of historians, which is great, but hardly any artists or art organisations. Hopefully they will arrive.
