BREAKING: Massive protests taking place right now in Chicago against Trump this evening.

Keep it up!

Always has his scales close at hand, I bet.

Hardly a trusted partner, I agree. PP was squawking that there wasn‘t a deal signed on the spot but that is hardly up to Canada. We need to be seen to be doing something but Trump treats agreements as steps in a negotiation and not as the result.

“There will not be one ounce of energy coming from Ontario“

Doug Ford refers to the possibility of cutting off energy exports but struggles to find a unit of measurement that actually measures, well, energy.

How many pounds of electricity did his house use last month?
Canada must come ‘second’ to U.S. in auto sector, Howard Lutnick warns behind closed doors
Appearing virtually, the commerce secretary told an audience at a Canada-U.S. conference in Toronto that the U.S. is determined to dominate the car-making industry.

I wouldn't dignify his past with any suggestion that he "retired". He was out-and-out ousted by his constituents in 2015. The only time he ever spent time in the riding was when he drove through it on the way to Ottawa.

A legend in his own mind, though.

Dunno. Seems a bit odd, retired Mr. Alexander being invited to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, given that the leader of the party to which he belongs is incapable of passing a security audit.

I always figured he was more of a Frank Burns than a Colonel Flag.
Chris Alexander and Larry Linville as Frank Burns of M*A*S*H fame.

I heard some Catholic school board official on the radio going on about how there wouldn’t be any savings by amalgamating the two system, and claiming that there wouldn’t be enough capacity if it weren’t for the Catholic schools.
doncochraneyow.bsky.social
His defence to any charges against him is, essentially, that he’s too stupid to know that what he was doing was wrong.
doncochraneyow.bsky.social
I would so dearly love to see the Catholic school board disbanded and a single system put into place.

It’s not as hard as people think it is. All you need is a few minutes at Queen’s Park. The feds would sign off without question. No other consents needed.

Let’s have a plebiscite.
ANALYSIS | Ottawa's Catholic school boards grow faster than expected — again | CBC News
Ottawa's two Catholic school boards are among the fastest-growing boards in Ontario, and both have seen even more students in their classrooms this September than they expected.

When interviewed for a documentary about the convoy, Bauder came across as a complete dolt. His lack of understanding of the world was astonishing. He also repeatedly cut off his wife whenever she tried to speak. She’s better off without him.

Given the rather lenient sentences handed down to Lich and Barber, James Bauer now looks particularly stupid for having fled to the US - claiming “persecution” in Canada.

He will end up having a much worse outcome.

It's rather amusing to go back and look at the X posts concerning Lich's and Barber's sentencing this morning.

Meanwhile, crybaby James Bauder is still at large, having fled to the US to escape prosecution.

It’s even free for homeowners, I believe.

The new owner of a side by side is completely gutting and reno-ing it. Some of the subcontractors don’t seem to be the brightest bulbs (they’re all from across the river and probably got the excavation job because they were cheap).

I didn’t see any locates done and I walk or bike by it every day.

The only reason he wasn‘t disbarred was because he resigned from the Law Society first. He had over 25 complaints against him during 10 years of “practice”.

Not a lot of respect for the law and an embarrassment to the profession.

“I wonder what Ezra would do?”
doncochraneyow.bsky.social
Ezra pretending to be surprised that court doesn't start right on time and suggesting that the judge must be enjoying a sleep in.

They'll appeal both the conviction and the sentence. They've got pretty much unlimited resources, thanks to the grifting.

But of course the Crown can appeal the sentence as well if they are not happy with it.
doncochraneyow.bsky.social
It's certainly at the high end and likely won't be the sentence. I'm ok with something in between that will be affirmed on appeal.
doncochraneyow.bsky.social
No - they just told people nearby to close their windows and doors. There isn't much risk of an explosion if it is just leaking into the outside air - it's not accumulating anywhere.

Crews are all gone now, so I assume it has been capped.

Yet there are many walking among us who think that they are freedom fighters and should be on our currency.
doncochraneyow.bsky.social
No one will be entirely pleased with whatever sentence is handed down.

It is quite telling when the Crown is asking for 7-8 yrs and defence asks for a discharge. That is some disconnect there.

Of course Ezra is there - how could he pass up a grifting opportunity?
