Johnson put a ground stop on all House voting until late October. Repubs are too busy partying it up in coastal Georgia with golf, dancing, booze, fishing, hunting for $15,000 per person. And I'm sure a little Grindring for Johnson and others.

The House reading clerk just read a letter from House Speaker Mike Johnson where he declares a 'District Work Period' from October 7 to October 13. That would mean no votes in the House until mid-month.

This GOP move does several things:
+ No votes in the House until at least October 14
+ No swearing-in for Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva D-AZ
+ No 218th signature from Grijalva on the Epstein Files discharge petition
+ Continues the House 'jam' of the Senate on the CR

So apparently it DOES NOT need to be the House Speaker to swear her in. Any duly appointed judge can also do it. We just need her and a judge to know this, and it shall be done.

I'm from Chicago. I have friends there that are reporting (as we all know) that Chicago is NOT a warzone, and the only aggressors are the federal agents that have been sent in. Chicago PD tried to disband some Feds and the Feds teargassed the police.
