Delicious! Never had a bad Jet’s. My favorite chain at this point; just wish I had one closer.

A year ago yesterday (thanks @donkeydownburst.bsky.social for reminding me), Colin and I found ourselves gobbling up some Jet's pizza along the shoreline of the UP of Michigan. Our original intent of the trip was to photograph fall colors, but the night skies definitely stole the show. What a night.

A few of several photos from the night. The lake effect cumulus in the 1st photo was absolutely wild in person. Eating some of my favorite pizza in one of my favorite places with one of my favorite friends while looking at one of my favorite phenomena makes it easily one of my favorite life moments.
Aurora borealis over Lake Superior during the overnight period between Oct. 7 and Oct. 8, 2024, near Marquette, MI. In this image, mostly greens but with a tall pink pillar over a rocky, tree-lined bluff on the edge of the lake. Just above the lake in the distance, lake-effect cumulus clouds give perspective to the scene. Greens and pinks/reds are the theme in this photo, with a single rock serving as the driving foreground element. In this shot, greens and pinks appear over Little Presque Isle, with the lake lapping up on the beach, leading to a tree-lined bluff on the right of the image.

1 year ago about right now, @charliekruschek.com & I were sitting in my car, eating Jet’s Pizza while we awaited the next auroral substorm on the shore of Lake Superior. Over the next 3 hours, we’d get a few substorms, several portfolio shots, & the most serene experience of my life. Volume ⬆️. (1/2)

Yeah but see the difference is, Coomer used heating pads. Lackey used the microwave.

The best part is, I could ask you, “Which one?” and not be confident in what inspired your post!

Ultimately required directly working with and scheduling with her pediatrician, and they delivered it in office. And if I weren’t friends with her pediatrician outside of work, I’m not sure how I’d have been able to get that information.

Autumn’s 7 now, so not apples to apples, but even last fall, it was tough to get her booster. No local pharmacies carried it, and by that time, our health dept had the pediatric booster but only offered any COVID vaccine to people who were income-limited. It was a pretty big crack to fall through.

Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

Hopefully not damaging to psyche, but relievers are pretty damned weird animals.

Yep. You need someone capable of a strikeout. Palencia is the closest you have to that out there. Peña and Cole had it right, too. Closer mindset often can be to slam a door, not hold it shut. It shouldn’t be, but it is.

It honestly isn’t often I disagree with JD on something relating to strategy, but it only took 4 pitches to prove correct my yelling and screaming about how you don’t bring closers into tie games on the road. Especially Palencia.
