Always said that his 19th hole racism was his super power and he has crafted over the years. The nudge and the wink of 'I am saying nothing, but you wouldn't want of them as your son-in-law, living next door to your mum etc'. The reason he's the main man is other racists aren't that good at it.

You could also say some of Simple Minds best stuff are the instrumentals and intros.

Labour has a nostalgia problem and is sentimental for those northern communities that were once organised/unionised labour but are now Reform curious retired or self employed tradesmen. They kind of loathe their lanyard class metropolitan base. They only have make the NHS work to unite both

Most of this country is Tory by default Steve. They still own the media and the institutions. Labour only win when the tories are bad and their supporters stay at home rather than defecting en mass. They are all itching to return to the fold with just a whiff of remote competence to make it happen.

They'll be quite a few Labour peers and your Mandelson etc grubbing for Russian money and freebies mixed in with the Tories\Reform. They will want hide if its so widespread to stop a politics wide malaise. They don't want to tell the Red Wall you were fooled into voting for Brexit by Russia also

They'll never get these onside and it will be worse when they buy the telegraph. They should do Leveson 2, change the laws around liable and make IPSO independent and compulsory and make Hugh Grant the chairman of it

The political equivalent of having both a Tesco Clubcard and a Nectar card.

Enforced equality, how dreadful! 😄. It's been amazing watching the whole media class have a meltdown when Labour does something remotely Labour. Like a 156 majority isn't some sort of mandate to do these things! Like how dare they?! 😄
November 28, 2025 at 8:01 AM
Because they'll be a few Labour graspers like Mandelson alongside the usual Tories and Reform with their fingers in. Also Labour are so scared to make Brexit voters feel like they are stupid or somehow duped or conned - Russian interference cements that reality.

I think you should focus your ire on those who called it Benefits Street over the despatch box or the media in this country who are more angry and annoyed that people in £2 million houses are going to get taxed.

As with all of these things there's a racist undercurrent to this as well around Muslim's having bigger families.

Seems UK has same dynamic as US. Left struggles to get elected & is thus fearful of taking ANY risk, alienating their base. Right takes any margin of electoral victory as a mandate to charge unapologetically even further to the extreme. This scenario makes progress impossible & regress more likely.

The lobby and other news journos scrabbling around to get infuriated by something in the budget or create drama when there's none. I get the feeling the wider public are pretty sanguine about the whole thing while the media acts like the swedish chef chasing the chicken in the muppet show.

I think they are really noticing the physical and mental decline in Trump and the realisation is that no way they can 3rd term him without it being Weekend at Bernies which is causing panic. Especially as the successors while ambitious have no personality or like Trump's sons hugely stupid.

I just find her just a wholly terrible and unpleasant person. I really try to find even a smidgen of redeemable features in everyone I am exposed to but with her I just kind find anything. I actually feel bad for doing so!

The right wing media in this country are so desperate to keep Farage viable and in play as he is the only vehicle they have to end a Labour government. They will waiver his racism and him being a potential Russian asset just to get Labour out

To be honest it was a rather vague invite and I doubt she would join. His biggest problem is that he needs to row back and be a bit more pragmatic on his NATO stance it's not a great hill to die on when over 80% electorate think its a good idea especially in the current climate.

Very true. He's in his own US entertainment show. How can we boost the ratings/ stop the Epstein talk - I know let's get that plucky kid on the show, you know the one who won in New York. I reckon he would have made Don Rickles, chief of staff had he still been alive.

Let's see what happens with PSV during the week. We are getting bullied in the league. Struggling to see how he fixes this. I hope Louis Enrique quite fancies Formby!
