It means a lot to be on the shortlist of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year, alongside some very good writers.

It means a lot to be on this list with some very good books. Thanks to the @BookiePrize for their constant support of sports books....it helps so many writers.

Thanks @sportsjournalists.co.uk for this second award.I know how lucky I am to write about such a broad range of sports and subjects and meet different people every week. And to be given the space for long form features, alongside the interviews and reports, is always pretty special

Thank you @sportsjournalists.co.uk This means a lot. Boxing was once the most accessible of all sports but so much has changed over the last 18 months. Access is controlled and accreditation is denied to some credible people. But our small group of dinosaurs will keep trying to write about boxing

A year ago Lindsey Burrow and I were hard at work on her memoir about the life, death and love she shared with her husband Rob. The book is out and, in its first week, it's No1 on the Sunday Times list. I've written here about how we began working together www.donaldmcrae.com/book-take-ca...

I loved this photo of Tasha Jonas picking up some tips from the great Roberto Duran before she faces Lauren Price at the Royal Albert Hall tomorrow night. I didn't have the space to write about Tasha and Duran but thanks to @tomjenkinspix.bsky.social for capturing the moment

Lindsey Burrow and I were a real team last year as we worked on her memoir of love, compassion and resilience during all the years in which Rob faced MND with such courage and humour. It's out next week and here's an edited extract in The Times. Not easy to write but there is light and hope here too

After nearly six years of writing about life, death and boxing in a little office, it was surreal and kinda funny to see and then sign a small sea of my new book The Last Bell in a different office yesterday. It's a really strange way to live and work but I still wouldn't swap it
