I don't disagree about the damage and am probably more pessimistic than you are. But the Stasi Records Agency is from a far, far different era.

Across the street from me, a coach house was rebuilt as attached megamansions. The "minor" variances allowed side-by-side driveways so short that only one vehicle fits and it has to be parked SIDEWAYS. It's not even an SUV. What happens when both homeowners want something to drive?
