Possibly the chrysalis of the Eastern Giant Swallowtail. The chrysalis is gray and looks like bark. It is in the trunk of a Hercules club tree. These trees have prominent bumps that can be seen in the picture. Snail with a brown shell with darker brown spots is in focus. The snail is on a red and pink surface. Picture of my front stairs. Moss and henbit from my walk today. :) Walk is used very loosely in this sentence. I laid on the ground distracted by plants most of the time.
