They do affect stats! And certain evos are locked behind having a specific personality trait. Additionally, you as a tamer can level up traits that specially boost mons in each of the 4 personality quadrants

+\-? some of the ultimate edition bonuses seem questionable, they just decorate your farm and that seems to be it. But access to future dlc updates seems promising

- the operator is kind of annoying, stop calling me every 10 seconds and deal with your shit in your timeline god muted

- most things have English voice acting, but they kind of literally translated things too literally. E.g. a character keeps saying “big bro” every sentence because you do in jp

+ the personality system seems interesting, although I need to dive into it more

+ your phone turns into a gun and you shoot your team to buff them or the enemies to debuff them (this is for the 2A divas)

+ maps are huge, but they handle fast travel well

+ challenge dungeons are interesting

+ the exp share feature allows you to experiment with teams without feeling like you’re “losing out” because all your mons gain exp at once (box mons just must slower)

+ bosses are surprisingly challenging? Not all of them are just big HP story conduits, you actually have to plan around mechanics

Some thoughts on Digimon Time Stranger, about 11 hours in:

+ they put a lot of love and attention to detail in the environments, and use stylization to handwave away details that aren’t vital in a way that really works (e.g. faceless pedestrians)

+ the evolution and party system is really good
