unknown little guy investigation update–

a few days ago, they were seen asking for food at a grocery store for me multiple days in a row, about a mile away from where we found them. someone said they were rummaging through trash too

it's starting to sound like they might actually be a homeless cat
someone else's picture of the same cat Freya found, but a week ago, at a grocery store a mile away

There's a nice article by Siobhan Roberts about the Bridges 2025 conference in Eindhoven in the NY Times. I can now say that I am in The NY Times! (A photo credit for the shot of Chaim Goodman-Strauss and Edmund Harriss,... but still!) www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/s...

It helped so many. He helped so many. Steve left the world forever so much better than he'd found it.

10th Anniversary Edition of NeuroTribes. To say that seeing the first copy of this was bittersweet is an immense understatement.

Selective empathy is moral blindness. It’s when compassion depends on who suffers, outrage on who’s harmed, and silence on who speaks. True empathy isn’t agreement, it’s feeling another’s pain even when it challenges your comfort or loyalty.

Perhaps we gather more layers of adaptation to the neurotypical world that get in the way. Alternatively, perhaps neurodivergence diverges beyond childhood.

Agree. A personal observation, however. Relating as an autistic physician in a therapeutic relationship with an autistic child, I've often found immediate resonance. The same has not been true in therapeutic relationships with autistic adults or with my own autistic primary health care provider.

Question about fiction from a non-fiction writer: I'm trying to think of protagonists who do not have a character arc, who end their story the same as they began. My one candidate: Ferris Bueller, who catalyzes change in others, but does not himself evolve or grow. Any others you can think of?

Not a writer, but I think of static archetypes in mythic stories, like the Wild Man in Iron John.

Yes, I was talking about your post when I was saying analog was so sweet. My post is a hybrid device. Sorry for the confusion. 😀
