and yes this is a tweet!!

if in casual conversation you say "I saw a tweet the other day" you don't correct yourself to say you saw a "toot" or a "skeet", bc deep down we all intuitively know the tweet is a format

I've *almost* got dual quaternion interpolation going!

DQs naturally interpolate using a screw motion, which works for any two rigid poses

ok I'm gonna resume fighting dual quaternions. one day I'll be able to implement exp(Q) and ln(Q) ;-;

I've been *so* close but there's always one little thing that's wrong, and it's hard to tell if it was a typo in the paper I was reading, or if I made a bad assumption somewhere

you know I used to say that going from 120Hz to 240Hz for monitor refresh rate wasn't super worth it, but today I had my first moment of spontaneously *noticing* my monitor had dropped to 120 Hz, likely due a change of TV/hdmi setup yesterday

wait why are black holes considered singularities? they aren't ever like, mathematically, a division-by-0-tier singularity, right?

Vaccines save lives.

And no, they do not cause autism.

long shot but, if @teamcherry.bsky.social ever needed a freelance tech artist I would absolutely love to work on almost anything shader/rendering/art related in their games

the trickiest part about researching dual quaternions is that nobody can agree on notation or convention

2θ vs θ vs θ/2

ab⁻¹ vs a⁻¹b

and of course,

q₀+εq₁ vs
(w₀+v₀)+ε(w₁+v₁) vs
(x₀+εxₑ)i+(y₀+εyₑ)i+(z₀+εzₑ)i+(w₀+εwₑ) vs
cos( (θ+εd)/2 )+v*sin( (θ+εd)/2 )

I wrote it up over on Mastodon (I find it's better at long threads):

okay I got to the place with like (at least) four gauntlet rooms in a row with no checkpoints, in Silksong act 3. my patience is running low ;-;

I always struggled a lot with the gauntlets, and having so many in a row is pretty demoralizing

I realized early on that a spatially constant cross-fade is nice, but for maximum expressiveness, spatial variance is required. We’ve added support for different transitions as a component that’s parented to the associated operation’s scene-tree node. You can even use a two-point Bézier spline...
