I love the vibe of Mörk Borg and as you say, it's great for novel 1 shots, but you need to hack it or use supplements to make it work in a satisfying way for campaigns.

Pirate Borg has guns entirely ignore worn armour and mobility/not drowning is a big thing in that game, so somebody in conquistador plate dies if you shove them overboard.

The monsters in that game scale quite often. Published bosses have attacks based on the number of characters.

Death in Space went with armour improving DRs to be hit. Its very lethal but you earn the Void metacurrency on failed rolls so you are using it to modify stuff a lot. It also uses advantage/disadvantage.

I get what you mean. Some of the other versions refined it and added little tweaks that make it run better.

CY_Borg more ways to approach a fight, with weird weapons, drugs and nano powers and all attacks do minimum 1 damage unless they'd reduce a player to zero.
Also autofire and aiming.

Can also recommend Cairn 2e as another good old school style game for a limited budget.

It's not OD&D but it's very good. The procedures the author has written for dungeon crawling and overland travel are great and the tables in it for generating dungeons are stellar. Worth your time.
