A thing that always fascinates me is how much flak Nintendo gets in the west about being bad for the industry when they're vehemently non-ai, support employee work/life balance, don't indulge in cynical layoffs, and very much seem to support LGBT rights. Mind you this is Japan and the US needs work.

People have a misguided and naive view that privately owned companies and indies are somehow more "moral and artistic" when yeah no, they ain't Sonny Jim. They're just as prone to the same sleaze and corrupt BS as the others, they just have better publicity and no reason to talk due to private owns.

You like how Trails didn't even get nominated this year? 13 Sentinels getting passed over for Best Narrative? The glazing of E33 for "saving/elevating turn-based RPG's" when Metaphor Fantazio and P3:Reload were last year or that Octopath 0 and Dragon Quest 1/2 HD2D? Just what? Last month?

Because it was exceptional in the exact same ways that JRPG's which get derided for being "too anime" have been exceptional for DECADES and gets glazed as the second coming of gaming Christ with it's only tangible change being not anime and having a more western aesthetic.

You can still download your games from their servers, just not buy new ones. And I'd absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to hear how you feel about Steam given that their client is very much DRM and the server situation the same thing as what people are bitdhing and moaning about here for clout.

It's engagement bait slop. Pretty much every content creator went full mask off once they realised the sheer amount of coin they could make peddling anger and outrage repackaged as "righteous consumer indignation".

I've always wondered about the accuracy since it would mean that there were no defective/damaged/stolen units or that those numbers were in the 1% margin of error which is just bullshit.
