Nothing says American Innovation like deporting your own Secretary of State

Johnson failing to do shit vs. Lightfoot constantly doing weird shit, yeah it's not good but I'll take the former in a heartbeat

Johnson has been disappointing in some respects but it feels downright Crazy Pills to hear him described as a mess after Lightfoot.

Insofar as the Butlerian Jihad has a point, it's not "AI bad", it's "when engineering machines to resemble humans is banned, elites will engineer humans to resemble machines". Mentats, guild navigators etc. Relevant, just for a different reason than the most common references to it

Antichamber does a little of this, and Superliminal does some similar playing on perspective

I know we all miss whatever video games came out when we were 12, but WOW did I not expect pressing F to pay respects would ever become something we'd yearn for

Fantastic game and was likely to be niche regardless, but the ideal release window for a game about your plucky neighborhood SWAT team is probably not "between the killings of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd", either

The slasher villain most likely to get stuck fumbling with a baby gate has got to be Jason, right?

I still love that this scene has a gigantic chalkboard full of equations when the point is "divide number by 2"

Reminds me of barter economy hypotheticals. "Departing tenant A wants to leave their oven behind, but incoming tenant B has a nice oven and only wants a fridge."

Pretty cool to whine about how a written law gets in the way of their unwritten law, too

Bret Deveraux's explanation of army-level "foraging" really brought the Third Amendment into focus for me as a sensible partner of the Fourth rather than a weirdo one-off. Even a fully loyal & well-behaved army on its own is a plague of locusts, and "fully" never happens

Thank you for doing these! It's always a nice mix of new stuff and nudges to buy stuff I've already waitlisted, and the results are usually bangers. And even the stuff that I haven't loved have been really interesting swings
