$4.99 (so, $5.40 with tax)

it may be a few days before I'm over to check the other one. will update if it's different

I mainly use the web interfaces (I run Linux as main OS, dual boot Windows as a last resort) and very occasionally the phone apps

I never borrow anything in person but I use it for Libby and Hoopla (and technically Blackstone, but I never use that).

Guess I've been busy with other stuff, as I obvy didn't notice that it expired in September (which was probably one year from getting it. I just moved back here last year)

LUL... so Libby has both the ebook and audiobook, but there is a wait for each...

and apparently my library card is expired (no wonder I haven't had any holds show up in the past couple months!)

so I sent an email to see if I need to go in person to renew, or... 🙄

You should look for the 25th Anniversary Edition...
the additional end content in particularly trippy :)

I have not. I'll see if it's on Hoopla or Blackstone, but honestly I have trouble paying attention to audiobooks. My mind wanders, and I have to keep rewinding to find where I drifted off... 🤷‍♀️

no idea. it got pretty much universally bad reviews, so I didn't bother.

in my world, Stallone's career ended on a high note with Judge Dredd 😄

it's a VERY good book.. surreal in a way the movie isn't, particularly towards the end. thus worth a 2nd reading... and maybe even worth following along with a wiki or some kind of reader's guide. it blurs fact and fiction in subtle ways.

but I'll still say the movie is better 😤

I'm not a huge horror fan, but within the genre I do tend to prefer books over movies. Will have to look into the books on both counts.

I'm assuming you mean the '71 Get Carter, and not the Stallone remake :D

found an old pic of it.
damn I wish I had the space for everything here
it's also super cheap, but sounds good as long as you are gentle with it. there will be no slap/funk 😅
November 15, 2025 at 11:43 PM
hmm... I didn't even know about that, but turns out it is available on Hoopla. So I'll throw in in the queue :)

someday I'll get all my guitars out of storage, and then put it next to the truer blue burst acoustic bass. It'll look much greener by comparison.

Agreed.

Agreed.

Also, pretty much anything by Philip K. Dick. A fantastic imagination, but no ear for prose. If anyone ever needed a co-writer...
November 15, 2025 at 11:04 PM
I liked the book as well, but even the author openly admits the movie is better 😊
November 15, 2025 at 10:50 PM
I haven't read. The only thing I know about the author is that he expressed regret later, that the movie resulted in vilification of sharks in pop culture.
November 15, 2025 at 10:46 PM
I like McCarthy (as an author. apparently he was a terrible person) but haven't read that one. I believe it though; great movie
November 15, 2025 at 10:44 PM
it's a little more teal than the camera shows, but definitely more blue than green
November 15, 2025 at 9:57 PM
Ellis can be intentionally difficult, and I rec going in chronological order, starting with Less Than Zero (which has a different ending than the movie)

or you could just skip him altogether and say, "that only matters to rich kids..." 😅
