Same if he was telling his Jewish classmate they were going to Hell. Doing otherwise, ignoring the bad behavior, hurts his minority classmates. I'm sick and tired of privileging the bad behavior of the majority and letting them repeat the sins of their fathers.

"Free speech" so often seems to mean "freedom from consequences". If little Billy calls his trans girl classmate "him", he *absolutely* needs to be told that's wrong, with consequences if the behavior continues.

Also, controlled speech in school has always been a thing. I wasn't allowed to call my Black classmates slurs (ofc), I wasn't allowed to swear at my teachers, why the hell should shitty kids be allowed to harass their trans classmates?! Schools, ideally, teach kids how to function in society!

Does Ken White get money from FIRE/ is he associated with them? His attack on Walter Bragman was just...weird. I have colleagues who have spoken with him on other matters, and they've never felt like he's misrepresented them. Granted, it wasn't on legal matters.
