i kinda feel like when people say things like "i don't have time to argue semantics" they mean "shut up and go along with my narrative" whether you were genuinely "arguing semantics" or not

that would be nigh-precisely what i would propose, also content-encoding (so you can signal stuff is compressed)

probably just reuse a subset of email/http headers tbh but with some kinda solution for compression

also what would be useful would be cryptographic signatures for anti-phishing

yeah like qr codes are great when you wanna stash some data but there's no way to declare to the scanner what kind of data you're stashing

it undermines the utility considerably and it's probably too late to do something about it (maybe not? i unno)

i lament the fact that there is no header standard for qr codes so you can have different semantics; 4 kilobytes is a lot of data (think about printing a csv of a paper receipt at the bottom of it)

okay this is one major pet peeve of mine about qr codes: most of the time they just have a homepage or initial slug, why not just print the damn url and your phone can ocr it

(different story obvs if the url is long and/or transcription is error-prone but another concern is rampant qrcode phishing)

thing about qr codes though is you need an optical scanner (ie a phone) to even see what's in them when this thing does not

that would be wild, an actual ink stamp that was a programmable qr code

probably wouldn't be terribly difficult to make but the content would have to be fixed since they get bigger the more you put in them (up to ~4 kilobytes, apparently)
