Florin Square is the heart of South Sacramento's vibrant Black-owned small businesses.

If Republicans let the ACA’s enhanced premium tax credits expire, premiums could double. That’s make-or-break for small business owners who are already stretched thin.

They deserve a fair shot, not higher costs.

In the face of pleas from the spouse of a military member living paycheck to paycheck with children whose lives rely on medication, Speaker Johnson continues to blame Democrats.

That's not leadership. Speaker Johnson, do your job—bring back the House and let's get to work for the American people.
C-SPAN caller confronts House Speaker Mike Johnson about shutdown effects: 'My kids could die'
The caller, who was identified as a Republican and military spouse, said she would not be able to afford her children's medication if the shutdown continues.

Every storefront on Stockton Blvd tells a story—of hard work, of family, of perseverance.

It’s a place where diverse cultures intersect. Where generations of small business owners work hard to lift up their community.

I won’t let Republicans play political games with their health and future.
dorismatsui.bsky.social
Republicans are in disarray. Turns out “take away health care and double people’s premiums” doesn’t play well with the American people.

Time to stop the chaos and get back to work.
Trump's off-script comments cause shutdown headaches for GOP
President Donald Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune are straining to project a united front against Democrats.

Republicans are so committed to continuing their reckless shutdown that Speaker Johnson is willing to let our service members go without pay.

Hurting our heroes isn’t leverage, it’s disgraceful.

Thank you, @coveredca.bsky.social , for joining me to sound the alarm.

The numbers don’t lie—without action, health care costs will soar.

Republicans’ refusal to extend the ACA tax credits is a direct attack on our community. We will keep fighting to make sure every Sacramentan can afford care.

Jessica Altman of CoveredCA hosted Rep. Rep. Doris Matsui to discuss the impact on #Sacramento if the #ACA's enhanced premium tax credits expire at the end of the year. Premiums would rise by 97% on average and 111% in Rep. Matsui's district.

The law is clear. Federal workers are required to receive back pay after a shutdown.

This is yet another act of cruelty and disregard from this Administration toward hardworking public servants.

I stand with our federal workers against these reckless, baseless attacks.
Trump suggests not all furloughed workers will get back pay: 'It depends'
Trump also said at the White House that if the shutdown drags on several days longer, a "substantial" number of jobs "will never come back."

Families in Sacramento and across the country are united: extend the ACA tax credits.

Republicans are out of step with the American people. They need to listen to their constituents and get back to work.

Most Americans, including most Republicans and MAGA supporters, say they want Congress to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits that help make Marketplace coverage more affordable. https://on.kff.org/4q7ElGy
KFF graph showing that more than 3 in 4 adults (78%) support extending the enhanced premium tax credits for Affordable Care Act Marketplace coverage, based on a KFF Health Tracking Poll from September 23-29, 2025.

Health care premium notices are arriving this month, and many Sacramentans are finding out they’ll be paying more for their coverage.

I want to hear from you. Share your story or a photo of your notice so I can show Republicans the real impact their actions are having on Sacramento families.

I’ve heard from small business owners in my district who made it clear what'll happen if these credits expire and premiums skyrocket.

In the face of the uncertainty & inflation caused by the Trump administration, they can’t afford another blow.

Cancel the cuts. Lower the cost. Save health care.
dorismatsui.bsky.social
@housedemocrats.bsky.social demands are simple:

➡️Extend the enhanced premium tax credits.

➡️Protect Medicaid.

➡️Keep health care affordable and accessible for EVERY American family.

Sacramento is a tight-knit community. We stand together. We support each other. And we never back down when it comes to protecting our neighbors.

Republicans know health care is essential. They just don’t think every American should have it. They ripped Medicaid away from millions. Now they’ve shut down the government rather than lower costs.

It’s unconscionable & I’ll never stop fighting to protect my constituents' care.

Collaborating with La Shelle to serve Sacramento has not only brought our city massive transformational progress but proves how powerful we can be when we walk side-by-side to ensure our neighbors get the support they need. [2/2]

Republicans are twisting the facts. Undocumented immigrants do not receive ACA benefits.

They’re spreading falsehoods to cover for what they’re really doing: driving up your premiums and taking away your health care.

FACT FOCUS: Democrats did not shut down the government to give health care to 'illegal immigrants'
This is false. Democrats say they are pushing for the inclusion of key health care provisions in the next congressional spending package.

Day 2 of Republicans' Government Shutdown & Trump's DOE is illegally cancelling $7.5B in projects that would lower energy prices for all American families & build a homegrown manufacturing economy. Trump's attacks will increase energy costs not only for Democrats, but for the entire country.

President Trump is canceling nearly $8 billion in funding for clean energy projects in Democratic states, including California. This is a thinly veiled attack on political opponents. It is immoral, it is corrupt, and it is illegal!

We will not be intimidated.

Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought said the funding was for projects in 16 states, all of which voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Governing seems to be too complicated for Republicans, so I made them a simple three-step plan to get them started.
dorismatsui.bsky.social
Republicans would rather shut the government down than lower health care costs.

Cancel the cuts. Lower the costs. Save health care. It's that simple.
dorismatsui.bsky.social
Republicans have chosen to shut the government down instead of serving the people who elected them.

Donald Trump isn’t threatening mass firings of federal employees because he thinks it’s necessary. His default is to hurt hardworking Americans when he doesn’t get his way.

I stand with our federal workers against these cruel attacks.

Republicans have manufactured a health care crisis. Their policies will more than double premiums for millions of families. And now, with hours until a shutdown, they are nowhere to be found.

Democrats are here fighting to keep costs down and protect your health care.
