I'd love to know how exactly that math works out. Aren't the tariffs supposed to be 35% of the value? Is this on a box of multiple? Did the shipper put a much higher declared value on the shipment?

Nextdoor is basically the circle jerk final boss. It's a platform where neighborhood backyard conversations can cross pollinate and reinforce each other. Even in "progressive areas" it's full of the same suburban backyard talk.

It's way too vague, so if you have any manufacturing in the US are your ex-US manufactured products exempt from tariffs? Even the large pharmas don't make everything here.

A lot of small to mid size US pharma companies outsource production, they don't have their own sites. Most US contract manufacturing sites have months long lead times for availability and even if they did have availability it takes months on top of that to get production at a site online.

Now I'm not going to say people shouldn't be critical or skeptical of authority or institutions but most people don't have the time or aren't well equipped enough to become fully informed on every topic. Especially now when misinformation is rampant.

Hank touches on it (caution by experts "legitimizes" it) but a big issue is right now (globally) there is just a deep mistrust of authority or institutions which means there are a lot more people now that are more receptive to this. In the US, it's only exacerbated by lack of affordable healthcare.

I think it's easier to say that PR politics are just more complicated. The major parties are around more local issues and people within those same parties may associate with D or R. I'm not on the island but my understanding is more so lean D but be more socially conservative on certain issues.

OK, perhaps what was meant was XLOOKUP and SUM-FILTER but that is not what was stated.

I mostly wanted to respond because for a second it made me feel like I was going crazy because VLOOKUP and SUMIFS are very basic functions.

It makes sense, TB earned the moniker "The White Death" for a reason.

We just don't think of it as being an issue because we live in a world with strong public health practices and antibiotics. We may have to re-examine that if things continue the way they are.

I do wonder if Jayapal was playing it safe and endorsing Harrell to keep a good relationship should he win. It's disappointing that coming out of the primary that she didn't switch her endorsement.

It's always a question if a candidate will ever be as effective as their promises once elected. NYC and Seattle are also very different cities with different political structures to navigate. I think, right now, we need candidates like these to re-center things bc these ideas take more than 1 term.

The general is in Nov, she placed first in the primary in August.

Her campaign has similar ideas to and has invited comparisons to Mamdani's platform. She finished the primary with a 10-pt lead over the incumbent (Harrell) that, earlier this year, seemed like he was going to get re-elected easily.
