i get that the point is to make them fight over the piss but it still feels problematic rewarding even one of them

The main reason I don’t think we come back from this is that so many liberals, including most big accounts on this website, continue to defend the Times and talk about how great the reporters are. We still reward outlets that push or conceal
the Trump agenda.

And the big accounts who talk about the NYT like it's an existential threat (it is) but defend its writers because they don't want to lose a famous follower. Very few big accounts use their massive influence for any sort of good despite the extremely minimal effort required (posting).
