I’m so sorry. And you’re absolutely right.

Wrote a full form, five issue comic series to see if I was able to. Shared it with friends every step of the way.

Those friends are going to help me get it made, by drawing, colouring and lettering the whole shebang. I am both nervous and excited.

Sweet Jesus. Thank you for posting.

(Prompted to pitch in the first place from a post on Twitter. Probably should’ve said that earlier.)

Out of this mess, found a little gang, who help keep this old man’s wheels on the track.

This is all very “why I went to play in Saudi” by Jordan Henderson, at the same time as his new club were greying out the rainbow armband he wore as Liverpool captain.

This is a good game.

I have an English degree and boosted a major publishing house’s share price, and saved a high street retail chain from closure.

If a Mickey Mouse degree lets you create actual Mickey fucking Mouse, it’s probably easily as good “for the economy” as business studies.

*deep sigh* Again, I have an English degree and have contributed rather extensively to the British economy, including writing a show that pumped £10 million into Wales. But the stupidity is the point here, of course.

Badenoch and Co see education only as a means to a massive income in some soul destroying career.

Devoid of imagination and the power of knowledge they view life entirely through the prism of the CV.

My advice always is to study what interests you and the rest will follow

For me - and I’ll keep stressing that, as you’ll find your own way - write some shit. Anything.

I wrote some comic scripts for my pal *just* to make him laugh. No expectation of him finding time to draw them. But I loved doing it.

I’ve got a note file on my phone with just bullet points of ideas they occur to me. Screenshots from books I read. Anything and everything goes in and eventually something bubbles up I can’t shake. Could be months later.

Then all (!) I have to do is write enough that I can’t bear wasting it.

Get some pencils and draw the fruit bowl? Work out how to play a tricky song? Paint a space marine? Do a four panel comic based on something that’s happened today?

I got paralysed until I heard “perfect is the enemy of finished” - just make stuff, then make it good later.

And, who cares if it’s shit? This is for an audience of one.

It’s REALLY hard to switch off from *this* but it can be done. I’m struggling with it too.

“I have to know everything” is not the same as “I have to know that same everything 50 times over”

Again - this helped me, might not help you but - put timers on apps, and, if it’s a distraction/mood kill, trim BlueSky down to few or no news sharing accounts (or set up a clean alt feed).

Then sit down with something - pen paper, guitar, drum kit, model kit, paints and see what happens

I can empathise. Couldn’t write for shit. So changed disciplines and started writing scripts, until I felt the urge to write prose again. Could you do something similar? Scratch the itch a different way?

Someone I know is writing an awful lot more books these days. What’s the point of that? (Well, I know, but my god, have some self respect)

I can imagine! Zen-like self control.

Hey, now I didn’t say that!

That’s incredible - Dan is one of the current artists that really could be from any era in 2000ADs history. Always good to see his stuff, and this is definitely one of his best.

They’re so good, aren’t they? And so reasonable! He was definitely on my list, so delighted to get a page.
