Because then it's not just some other religious belief that they dislike, like Muslims or Hindus. It's just 'evil people who love evil' that they 'need to stop'

It's a contradiction they love to make

"Evolution is just a theory, and therefore it is like a religious belief," is what they say against science that disagrees with their indoctrination agenda

"Atheists do not have any religious beliefs," is what they say to fortify their discredited opinions

The point in which you should interfere with someone's identity or what they believe to be true or not is when it is actively harmful to others.
