I understand your point but I think R2 will be a better seller for them overall so it makes sense to produce that one first. Also I don’t think the LiDAR adds much to the cost. LiDAR is cheap now.

Happy to hear they are not following Tesla’s idiotic idea of using vision only. LiDAR is so cheap now so there is not even a cost benefit anymore.

I wish Rivian would have focused on shipping R2, R3, and becoming profitable before going down the autonomy rabbit hole. Self driving is the future but there is no reason to force it!

All first would counties should be banning the sale of new ICE cars by 2035. They should also be highly taxing the sales of all new ICE cars now! Lastly hybrids are considered ICE cars.

If you drive the car correctly the brake pads will last the lifetime of the car with regenerative braking doing all the work. Even though I would like manufacturers to be more open with their internal software it’s less of an issue here since it’s an EV.

I support this but I am worried about people with disabilities. Wheel chairs and the blind come to mind at the moment.

Apple is exactly what the foldable industry needs right now. Apple will make them mainstream and I willing to bet most phones sold in 2030 will be flip or folding phones. Candy bar phones are on their last leg.

I hate that it can’t be recharged! Even if the math works out to 3+ years of average use making it less than 10¢ a day. Just the environmental impact alone makes this a no go for me. At least if they sent you box to get it recycled for free after the battery dies then I could maybe accept it.

Not bad but not great either. Especially since the 2026 Ioniq 5 starts at $35K. I think if they hit the $29K price point it would sell much more.

Does he not realize how bad of plan that is? The only way a plan like that could work is strict profit limits or even requiring all insurance companies to be nonprofits.

I don’t know why everyone cares about self driving technology to much. When I was in San Francisco I tried a Waymo and it was cool but I don’t need that tech in my car yet. HDAII in my Ioniq 6 for highway driving is more than enough.

Yes, but for me not worrying about it is just as anxiety inducing as worrying about it. So the only way I can somewhat come to peace with it is hover somewhere in the middle, AKA prepare to a certain extent. 😅
