The Star Wars Special Editions have aged horribly. They were a novelty back in 1997 as it was a chance to see the trilogy on the big screen again but the irony is that the vast majority of the digital effects have aged worse than the original effects there were replacing.

Bar a few movies I saw with the kids I only saw two new movies at the cinema this year - must be an all-time low for me. One I loved and one I hated every frame of (F1 and Superman).

Shocked and sddened by the tragic news of Rob Reiner's passing. What a filmography - he managed to move effortlessly from genre to genre. And also directed two of the funniest films of all time - This Is Spinal Tap and When Harry Met Sally... A huge loss.

Watched the first two episodes of #ThePaper, and I think I'm done. Its heart seems to be in the right place, but it's...just....not...funny. At all. I dont think I even smirked once.

So #Superman didn't do it for me AT ALL. I liked the cast, especially Corenswet, but they were wasted in an overstuffed, messy, soulless, joyless rushed movie. I hated the plot, which felt like recycled bits of other Superman movies.

Time has not been kind to #IndianaJones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Mind you, it was rubbish in 2008 too. Still better than Dial of Destiny, though.

#Gladiator2 is sadly an overlong, dull, uneven mess. It leans far too hard on the original and had nothing new to say. Mescal is a good actor but not a leading man. Some impressive action and visuals, but that's it. Not entertained.

I think Inglourious Basterds is now my favourite Tarantino film. Every time it's on TV I just can't turn it off, especially if it's around the basement scene. So many incredible performances.
