Love the layers you’ve built into this story.

I also prefer curating my feed. ☺️ But I do post on IG and let that post to Threads. BlueSky is my primary platform though.

I don’t know. I only saw that little bit about the AI slop list they had undone. And I didn’t have time to look further into it
doucette515.bsky.social
I think it’s recent. They’re not happy about folks using the lists to mass block for things like use of AI. 😣

I love that moment when the lightbulb goes off. It’s so satisfying for all involved!

I think threads draws in those who like algorithms that bring stuff they’ll be interested in to them. You have to be a bit more deliberate about that on this platform. Which I like. But some people prefer the other.

I say apart from a SM platform. But technically most of the communication about the event goes through the MG Hub Discord now.

That’s why I started MGHubPitch in a form apart from any particular Social Media platform. Having its own form for those short pitches seems to be working.

Each year the event seems to expand a little further. This was year 3, and the first time I passed off the baton. And they expanded beyond MG!

My closest writing group, the #MGpies (part of MGHub) formed in a Twitter DM group. They are responsible for getting me sanely through COVID until the vaccines.

I enjoyed those pitching events too.

It’s hard with things so splintered now.

There’s something about honing an entire story down that far that sharpens everything if you get it right.

Yes! And when I’ve read queries for friends it’s most often the area we go back and forth over trying to get right (whether it’s my query or theirs). I think it’s a pretty fun puzzle to piece through.
doucette515.bsky.social
I think it’s significantly helped me.
doucette515.bsky.social
The worst. I'm sorry. It's so hard.

I do like a solid resource. :D #KidLitChat

#KidLitChat I feel like stakes are a spot that take revising again and again and again. But also so vital!

@sarahnfisk.bsky.social has a great podcast for people who want to see Kid Lit queries that have worked. There's a whole youtube playlist, too! youtu.be/nngGutSWBqU...

I think people get way too far into the weeds in picking comps that fit plot and theme exactly. Going more broad and picking a vibe is probably the best bet. #kidlitchat
