Saw him speak by a re-commissioned battleship (Iowa or New Jersey, not sure) in Brooklyn ca. 1984. Riveting. With an obsolete symbol behind him, he rolled up how much good could have been done with that money.

In FY 2024, EV tax credits resulted in ~$2 billion in foregone revenue (FR). In the same period, oil & gas tax preferences came to about ~ $1.7 billion FR.
And EV sales fell by 2/3 since the tax credit was killed.
