It's fair to say that most Americans didn't know how much the US depends on Canada for key products and supplies. But that is changing. As you can see, Canada provides over 60% of the oil imported into the US. And that can't be replaced, because it is heavy crude oil that Midwest refineries need.

According to a Dec. 18, 2024, NYT article, "82 percent of atheists, 80 percent of agnostics and 64 percent of those who said they had no particular faith voted for Harris." Those groups represent 30% of the US population. The Democrats are searching for a way forward. Possibly this is it?

There are many reasons why Canadians do not want to join the USA, even though we are your closest ally and partner. However, there's an obvious reason why Republicans would not want this to happen. Canada would overwhelm the US Congress and the Electoral College with progressives and socialists!

US federal statistics show US border authorities seized 21,889 pounds of fentanyl in the 2024 fiscal year. Of that amount, 43 pounds were seized at the Canadian border — about 0.2% — compared with 21,148 pounds at the Mexican border, about 96.6%. (Source: CNN Feb. 3, 2025)

I have no problem with Canada joining the USA, subject to some minor conditions. The USA must first:
- ban handguns and automatic weapons,
- adopt the metric system,
- implement universal health care,
- make King Charles head of state,
- name the new country "Canusa".
Is that asking too much?

The USA doesn't need to build walls along its borders to stop migrants. All it needs to do is to make it illegal for US companies to hire anyone who is not a citizen or who doesn't have a work visa. This would need to be enforced, of course. It's that simple! It would save a lot of money! Seriously!
