In my twenties and early thirties I got pneumonia every 3-5 years. The last time, I asked my doctor if there was a vaccine.
She said “Yes, but we only give it to the elderly or those at risk of pneumonia.”
I said “I’ve had it five times, am I at risk?”
Got the shot, 20 years pneumonia free.

I found the eigenslur more convincing than this. How could we tell the difference between “you made me focus on 19th century texts and these old timey answers are in other 19th century texts” vs “You made me think I am a fancy gentleman and I live in the 19th century”?

Hey, uh, so I know I said we should host our service in the L2 datacenter but I’m getting like 10000 ms latencies on all my requests. No matter how much I optimize the code it always takes 10 seconds. Any suggestions?
Also: How much diesel do we have there and what’s the lead time to get more?

To put a finer point on it: LLMs are fundamentally incapable of making decisions but are being promoted as tools for tasks that require making innumerable decisions (writing, planning) because the LLM enthusiasts do not perform that kind of decisionmaking and so do not believe it exists

This feels really weird. If you were a cattle rancher, it seems like you could make a crapton of money by running at the opposite cycle. Are there ranchers who do this?
