It doesn't make for good TV, but reading about historic battles, 80% of them appear to be won & lost for 5 reasons.

1) One army's much bigger.
2) One army runs out of food.
3) Army or units thereof are not where they are supposed to be.
4) Ran out of bullets.
5) Poor visibility.
