I’d wonder if the catholic impetus is lead first by “the power of the state is taken from the power of the church” (à la communism’s relationship to atheism)

And a lot of that preordainment leads to tracking markers of wealth and power as markers of the divine (even from outside whatever faith alignment).

All enforce a hierarchy and subservience to it 😅 just was a personal weird wake up call once the doctrinal difference was pointed out

My original point was that American Protestantism comes with an extra twist of divine right at the individual level because salvation is largely preordained…
