I used mma for years. It's still great for complicated models, but there are other tools for simple stuff like Geogebra

Ggplot is better for plotting data sets. Mma is better for plotting mathematical expressions and functions.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s much of a debate. 10 years ago there was a revolution in R that allowed it to survive and thrive when it was about to lose out to Stata, SPSS, and other alternatives. Now it’s in the top 10 coding languages. We have Hadley, RStudio/Posit and the tidyverse to thank for that.
