Me, singing an advertising jingle because it lives deep within my brain somewhere: "Rattle, rattle, thunder, clatter, boom-boom-boom!"

My 3-year-old who has perhaps heard me sing this several, and yet not enough, times before: "Don't worry 'bout the Car-X man!"

"No, [3-year-old son], you can't make chocolate ice cream by mixing two different coffees."

...but he'll be ready for point-and-click games with moon logic inventory interactions, I guess.

"Gross!" declares my three-year-old with innocent amusement as he wipes his saliva-drenched hand onto the shirt I'm wearing

I usually try my grandmother's recipe for disaster, but I've never been able to replicate it.

The Real Ghostbusters cartoon occasionally had an episode plot what involved a ghost or ghostlike entity that actually consumed other ghosts, and as a child I thought that was terrifying. I considered most of the ghosts in the series to be departed human souls, as the movie suggested.

Weird thought of the day:

If they remade Wayne's World for modern times, Wayne and Garth would be Twitch streamers rather than hosting a public access television show.

Hm. Thought better of my last post, which was written in a way that could potentially be used against me.

So instead I'll just say that I noticed fewer hate symbol/message graffiti markings on my walk back home from the park today than I did going there.

I appreciated the positive stickers I saw.

Maybe I'm just old, but seeing a retailer advertise its backpacks as "viral" in an attempt to appeal to youngsters comes off as really off-putting. Are the bags duplicating themselves? Are they diseased? Are they seeing digital transfer? Or do they simply assume "viral" is synonymous with "popular?"

"Twenty-five years my banana"

- my toddler "reading" the fortune from his cookie

Oh no. We've reached the stage where the toddler draws a picture and then GIFTS it to me. "Here, YOURS now!" Now I have to save these precious gifts forever and I don't even know which way the drawings are meant to be oriented. Good thing there's fridge space. FOR NOW.

My toddler, named for a Castlevania hero, is presently strutting around the first floor of the house finding things to whip with his colorful, plastic, toy chain links.

If he manages to get an item out of the jarred candle in the bathroom, I will be equal parts impressed and concerned.

As I get older, I'm beginning to adopt some traits I wouldn't have as a younger person.

Lately, it's automatically Disliking any YouTube Short that attempts to seamlessly link back to its intro mid-sentence like it wants to trick you into watching it several times. Even if I enjoyed the Short.

Two decades working with school-aged children in early childhood education did not adequately prepare me for the fatherhood experience of Toddler Is Done On The Potty And Now Runs Through The House Bottomless And Giggling.

A family story in one photo. Handwriting is my mother's.

By far, the weirdest and most unanticipated part of becoming a parent has been subconsciously expecting parallels to my own and my younger brother's childhood. Like, oh, I wonder what time David the Gnome comes on TV, he'd probably enjoy that. Oh, right, it's no longer the 1980's. Bluey it is, then.

My toddler says that I should be typing, so here I am.

Although I suspect it's because he wants to sit next to me at my wife's keyboard doing the same. (No, buddy, I'm not turning on her computer for you.)

I'm trying to decide what to do with this account primarily.

For years now, I haven't used social media to share life updates like it's intended(?), and I don't see that changing on Bluesky.

I may just end up sharing occasional thoughts and maybe progress updates on my game project.
