Trump’s promise to “drain the swamp” wasn’t, as many naive Americans thought, to battle corruption. It’s bc swamp water is murky…he prefers the corruption to happen out in the great wide open.

I agree with you. But I also must note that in Nov 2020 when turnout was at historical highs (due to the removal of institutional barriers to casting a ballot btw), the state still voted for Trump by hundreds of thousands of votes. I wish I could explain why we keep punching ourselves in the face.

This is true, and yet, in statewide elections with zero gerrymandering (US Senate; Gov; Lt Gov; etc), we time and time again choose Republicans.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

I understand the effect of staying an injunction is that it allows the law to remain in effect for the time being. That doesn’t change the point I made.

Operative word here is “poor”…I know it was audacious of us to think we deserved access to the American Dream too, and our implicit trust in the gov’t to not set generations of us up for failure makes us look like “suckers” now, but goddamn, our fellow citizens don’t have to piss in our wounds.

My monthly payment went from $450 under IDR to $161 under Biden’s SAVE plan and now to $950 under Trump’s IDR and my income hasn’t changed. Their goal is to punish us. “The cruelty is the point.”
