Happy that it was helpful! Part of my route was that i wanted to hit rip's tavern (read on some food blog that it was the best chicken in IL) and it was more convenient to get there from Princeton than mendota. IIRC both cities are equidistant from Starved Rock

basically it was Country Road 1800 N -> Main St in Ladd -> Country Road 1600 N -> Plank Rd in Peru -> Peoria St in Peru -> Water/Canal St in Peru/Lasalle -> Illinois & Michigan Canal Trail -> Illinois route 178 in Utica -> starved rock

I don't have strava so this is my recollection of the route i took based on memory and geodata for pictures i took there. I'm not sure i can recommend the route i took; country road 1800 North turns into gravel in places and i remember there being a lot of steep hills on the peru riverfront

biked the route from princeton IL to starved rock and back a couple years ago. It's a GORGEOUS route (especially I&M) but a 3-hour hike around starved rock + 60 miles biking took a lot out of me haha. if you go back i highly recommend getting the chicken at rip's tavern in ladd, IL
