Chicago Democrat living in a red state. Retired chemist. Retired tour guide (last job). Introvert, but an’t stand silence in a group
Frederick is one handsome kitty, if a bit terrifying. Found myself apologizing to the picture for offending him.

Read it decades ago. From what I remember, kinda creepy & eerie, pretty good book. Pretty sure it got tossed when we moved recently. Had a lot of paperbacks damaged by water & mice.

It is lovely at night that time of year. But ONLY if you’re sitting in one of the private boxes with heat, catering, & warming beverages looking out at the lake + field.

And considering where Soldier Field is, a beautiful “light breeze” off the lake “swirling gently” around Museum Campus. Been there after dark on a cold winter day, it feels (& is) 10°-20° colder than 8 blocks closer to the buildings.

Not really, unless the Drumpf administration decides to completely destroy copyright protection. This might be the line his wealthy toadies won’t cross, especially the few who are songwriters/authors/creatives. Current law (1978) copyright is for life of writer plus 70 yrs.

I understand completely. I have a large mug, ~16 oz-Garfield is on it, it’s for tea. A Disney mug, ~12 oz- Walt Disney quote for coffee. 30 oz Stanley thermal for water. 12 Oz glass cup for milk. Ice cream, trying to cut down, so smaller actual dessert dishes. Serving, soup, iced tea, & teaspoons.

IL election worker for several years. Had an actual ballot that was counted by machine. Then ballot placed into a locked space within the booth. End of night get the machine tabulation, then verify against the actual ballot. All that was then taken to a central location for final local count.

Reminds me of the penguin in Wallace & Grommet. A short: The Wrong Trousers & a movie: Vengeance Must Fowl.

You’ve got a good mom. For mine, everything I did, outside of very rigid little box, was stupid & embarrassing. Still is.

Don’t have too much trouble with the various dialects (1st gen, 3 different European accents in family, currently living in Eastern TN). It does mean that I rarely need an explanation for English terms compared to American. Much thanks to Sherlock Holmes & Miss Marple, amongst others.

2nd grade parent-teacher meeting for son:
He finishes his work & then disrupts his friends. Get him tested for ADHD.
3 yrs later, same teacher, this time daughter:
She finishes her work & talks with her friends. She’s such a social butterfly.
Asked teacher how that was different from big brother?

Last 2 cars I had:
‘03 Toyota Corolla S, 160,000 miles, 12 yrs old
‘15 Toyota Corolla LE, 140,000 miles, 10 yrs old
The above 2 were strictly driven by me. Current car is a hybrid that my husband has decided he needs to be driving it >75% of the time.

Don’t know the law on that one, but since it’s International Court, the Israeli President may not be able to pardon him. Besides, God isn’t into pardons, no matter what a priest, rabbi, imam, or other clergy may tell you.

There are a few problems with roundabouts.
1) No one knows how to use one properly. Sometimes you have an entitled group who believe they have the right of way.
2) Some aren’t big enough. One lane roads causing problems for semis using that road.
3) Too many people who hate round about.

A real professional would have his jacket/hard hat/boots with him if there was a possibility that they would be in public. In an emergency situation, called in on vacation/after hours, may or may not have it, but would still go out & due their job. Damn the photo op.

For sure. Think they even have their own name. Pretty sure a male diva is known as a divo.

No past tense. Will is future tense. For example, I will go to the store.

Weird. I agree with the new bill, but the 2 times we’ve been notified by the IRS, we were told where the problem was. The 1st was an easy fix, the 2nd involved contacting another group. Turns out they reported the amount transferred to new company (takeover) instead of interest accrued.

Never had a problem with Tylenol 3
(Tylenol with codeine). Took it the same as you. Good luck. Hoping you won’t need it much longer.

The amount of her savings strongly depends on a few things.
1) How long has she been at Google?
2) What was initial salary?
3) When did she marry?
Assuming married 5 yrs, $390,000/ yr salary for 4 yrs. Yeah. She saved $1.5 million in 4 years.

Knew about “Mayday”, but not about the key punch cards. Thanks for the info (love semi-useless trivia myself)

Unless I had a copy of the pattern in front of me, I wouldn’t be able to tell. As it is, I can’t tell.

He was re-vetted by the current regime & approved for asylum by them back in June, 2025. His original vetting dealt more with his service to us in Afghanistan. Vetting for asylum would have to include the intervening years. There were still people who knew the job when he was approved.

I like cauliflower on occasion. Even tried cauliflower crust & rice. Sorry, no way can I eat that. The taste & smell of cauliflower over powers the dish. Have not had zucchini “spaghetti”, but would try it, especially if it was similar to spaghetti squash.
