Some folks I know are doing the opposite - working less so that work hours + commute equals what they'd have done from home (8hrs or whatever). So they're not adding the commute time on top of their work day.

I think even the awareness to realize it doesn't work, vs you're not applying it correctly, or have to just stick with it for longer, is difficult to develop.
