This snow is hurting my feelings. It took me over an hour to take my 13 yo to school today. It should have taken about 12 minutes. This city is not ready to be functional after 60 cms of snow in one day.

Just objectively way too much snow here in Toronto.

The calm before the storm

This evening invoked killing a spider on the ceiling of my 9 year-old’s room with a sword from medieval times - which my 9yo insisted I light up for the task.

I do feel badly for the poor spider whose last moments were so weird.

If you’re looking for a sunrise pic from me, that’s probably never going to happen, but here’s a a pic of a nice sky sometime after the sun rose lol (I am not a morning person).

Anyone else feel like this Raptors slogan is particularly meaningful lately?

I’m very proud of my dog-nephew who now prefers to eat lying upside down whilst his owners drop meat into his mouth.

I do miss my west-facing, high-above-the-street porch at our old house. But at our new house, I love looking south to see black clouds over the lake at night with the crisp white of snowy houses in the foreground.

One day we could meet at the lake with our kids! Some of my best fossils were found by my eldest daughter! We also collect sea glass of course! One good group to join is on Facebook if you are on it. You can see what kind of fossils are local to our lakes:

Oh yes! So many. Mostly horn and favosite corals and crinoid stems, but some brachiopods, some gastropods and I may have also found one ammonite. It’s my favourite hobby.

Super glad I got down to the lake yesterday and found this beautiful little horn coral before she got absolutely buried by all the snow that ever was and will be.

A moody morning at the lake with a little peek of sunlight.

God, the world is a mess. But this made me happy - MLA in my town! I mostly excited to go to my friend’s session in Virginia Woolf. Humanities as resistance!

My Christmas present to myself arrived! I’m so sickcited!

It’s important you know that those gorgeous dahlias are actually paper and were made by my sister.

Late night TV watching yields this.

Someone who loves this poor man needs to sit down and have a talk with him.

My concession to New Year’s Eve is wearing sparkly earrings and red lipstick. Here’s to putting in the bare minimum in the coming year!

A year ago today I was recovering from a nasty bout of pneumonia. I remember this day - I thought I was finally feeling and looking better. Hoo boy, I was wrong about that.

Working on it whilst watching Raptors lol

I put together this absolute beauty and feel like I deserve some recognition for it 😂
