New Sinema is up with a short fiction intro followed by my unfiltered praise for the SOV horror royalty that is THE BURNING MOON!

Hexcrafting and Cursing: Musing on The Burning Moon (1992)
There's no greater poverty than loneliness. It can drive people to pitch black places. Alan Volk is the blackest place you'll ever go. Moving in your senior year was hard enough, the threads of your l...

Check out my piece on The Art of Dying. This is an absolutely bonkers gem of an exploitation/noir directed by and starring the recently departed Wings Hauser.

Analog Abattoir: "THE ART OF DYING" Is A Grimy Neo-Noir Fever Dream - Rue Morgue
Cult action star Wings Hauser may be gone but his "Art" lives on in this gritty, blood-soaked 1991 thriller.

Perpetual Night: Musing on Eaten Alive (1976)
It's an endless winter where I live. The howling wind creeps beneath my parka as I drag the body between walls of naked pines. Their branches reach up like nerve cells, desperate for sensation but cur...

Thinking about the sheer degradation of the scene in Maximum Overdrive with the little league coach getting shot in the nards by a soda machine, then suffering fatal brain trauma. No one does it like. @stephenking.bsky.social

Late to the party but Strange Darling really worked for me. It isn’t a deluge but there has been a steady trickle of fantastic exploitation throwbacks (Green Room stands out for me) coming out for a while and it is heartening to know there are those who still champion the ugly side of cinema.

Thought this would be a White Lightning knock off but it’s more like a Hicksploitation thriller with moments of hyper-violence. Pleasantly surprised

Why hasn’t there been a movie with a chainsaw-wielding mummy? Why must humanity continue to disappoint me?

The golden beeper Trump was gifted and the golden citizenship cards he advertised are ideas that would be shot down as too broad if pitched for a Robocop script. Our dystopia goes beyond farce.

A truly slept on merger of Amityville Horror and Rosemary’s baby with euro-horror sensibilities and an absolutely insane cast. I have long been a champion of THE SENTINEL!

I only caught The Critic in bits as a kid so I started watching it today. Its got some clever moments and some (Not shockingly) problematic moments. What’s important is that the first episode has TWO digs at Trump. This man was a universal joke…Now he’s half of America’s Christ.

…It stinks.
