We observed small shifts in defeatist beliefs and self-esteem in the intended directions. More impressively, at 1-week follow-up, the overwhelming majority of participants (90%) reported making progress in at least one of the real-life tasks they had identified... 4/5

20 participants tried a single session with a researcher, and then were asked to use it on their own for 1 week with no additional incentives. The app was feasible and acceptable with 19 of the 20 participants able to access and willing to use it on their own ... 3/5

We observed small but meaningful shifts in defeatist beliefs and self-esteem in the intended directions. Even more striking, at one-week follow-up, 90% of participants reported making progress on at least one real-life goal they had identified during the intervention.

20 participants completed 1 guided session with a researcher & were asked to use the app independently for 1 week, with no additional incentives. The results were encouraging:19 of 20 participants were able to access & were willing to use the app on their own, supporting feasibility & acceptability.

In this preliminary study, we developed & tested a single-session digital therapeutic that helps people identify unhelpful, defeatist beliefs linked to negative symptoms, introduce more adaptive alternatives, & then reinforce those beliefs through real-world behavioral experiments delivered via AR.
