Four years ago, following a painful separation and job loss, the only job I could get was reading gas meters. I kept going with my PhD and finally completed it last year, with no corrections. Now I’m excited to be on the precipice of teaching again. To say I’m excited is an understatement.

Back in Melbourne after another time in the office in Brisbane. Looking forward to the big move north at the end of the year. This working from home, whilst very helpful for this time, is not ideal.

I’m trying not to be too pessimistic about the future but the unfolding story of US politics is bizarre and scary in equal measure. I fear this will have a lasting impact on the world for a long time. It would seem almost inevitable that Australia will lurch to the right at the next election too.

I get commissioned as the Academic Dean at St Francis College tomorrow. What a privilege to serve in this role.
