Fair play to Galatasaray there but my word, that was woeful again from Liverpool.

He surely has too much quality not to come good eventually but Wirtz looks well off the pace. He’s not produced anything like what we saw Harvey Elliott do in a red shirt.

The fierce, astounding and life-affirming @selfesteem.music-social.com dazzled Manchester on Saturday night.

Indeed.

“Patriotic national renewal” could be the slogan of anyone pissed off at the terms of the treaty of Versailles or the annexation of the Sudetenland.

Sounds great! I’ll DM you my Email address.

Style lessons from Robert Redford, one of the most stylish men in the last century. 🧵
Apologies for not adding alt text to all these photos. My cat is screaming her head off and if I don't let her outside right this instance, where I have to accompany her, I might die.

It's not just the violence they need to condemn. It's the politics. They condemned the violence last summer and then spent the entire subsequent year pandering to the politics. That's why we are where we are.

Everyone saying PM shd condemn far right violence in London yday (Shabana Mahmood already has)/ leave X is right. But same for Kemi Badenoch. No Conservative Party can condone thugs attacking police horses & calls for violent uprising. Even Farage has gone up against Yaxley-Lennon ffs.

Going through my artists currently on rotation, it doesn’t take a huge leap to imagine what a dream ‘Rock Against Racism’ lineup might look like: Massive Attack, Weller, Young Fathers, Fontaines, Bob Vylan…

Get it done, lads.

A friend of mine was on Charlie Kirk's "watch list" of Black professors. She received so many death and rape threats that her university offered her a security detail for the walk to class.

This is Kirk's legacy.

You would never know it from reading all of these legacy newspaper op-eds about him.

Massimo Osti’s politics influenced his work. According to his biographer, Osti designed clothes to “protect people and protect humanity”. Mindful of class politics, Osti would have been pro-immigration. Pro-refugees.

Everything these cavemen are marching against.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when I see Stone Island co-opted by the far Right.

If only these fascist pricks knew that Massimo Osti was not only a fully paid up member of the Communist Party of Italy, but he was *even more radical* and even more left-wing in his views than the official CPI.

*PSA Blog* Has the Green moment finally arrived in UK politics?

With Zack Polanski’s rise, the Greens could be on the verge of a historic breakthrough — but can he be popular without being populist?

Read Matthew Flinders’ new PSA blog:
Has the Green Moment Finally Arrived in the UK? | The Political Studies Association (PSA)
The tectonic plates of British party politics appear to be shifting at an ever-increasing rate. Long suppressed public frustrations are being vented by a new breed of populist insurgent parties. But…

Made up that @zackpolanski.bsky.social and @mothinali.bsky.social have been elected as leader and deputy leader of the @greenparty.org.uk

Big personalities and bold politics to not only take on but overcome the failures of Labour and the threat of Reform.

You have to laugh at Coral’s shameless “even the ref’s at it” line in their latest ad.

It just underlines the absolute contempt the betting industry has for football.

Absolutely no way are we retaining the title with this defence. I’d lash the Isak money on Guehi, and quick.

Maybe Newcastle fans singing “Premier League, corrupt as fuck” is encouraging in terms of a recognition that the PL probably shouldn’t have allowed their club to be owned by ‘Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund’? 😃

The @petefowlerart.bsky.social artwork during this period remains unmatched in the Super Furries canon IMO.

That’s a bizarre take on what I’ve argued. I’m not acting on behalf of anyone.

I don’t think the song is offensive or was even meant to be offensive. I do, however, think it’s tone deaf and could be construed as being insensitive to those still affected by Heysel.
drdavewebber.bsky.social
I’ve heard ‘rentboy’ justified on the grounds that Chelsea loan players out. That they don’t own players, rather they “rent” them out to other clubs.

It’s spurious bullshit of course but much like the ‘Always the victim’ chants, they are coded in their meaning.
drdavewebber.bsky.social
I don’t think it’s neither smart nor sensible to sing songs that could be interpreted as causing hostility to a fanbase with which we have history.

The lad behind the ‘rentboy’ rant about Chelsea didn’t mean any offence to LGBT+ folk. It was still homophobic though, no?
