I'm sure all manuscript scholars want to second that vote of thanks. MLGB3 goes beyond what the hardcopy Medieval Libraries of GB could provide. It was a sad day when it had to be taken down; it is great to see it back and functioning well. And it is going to get better! Congratulations to the team.

MLGB is back!! Delighted that Medieval Libraries of Great Britain @bodleian.ox.ac.uk is now back online. We are also working had on plans for the next phase of the resource, enhancing & adding data & functionality. HUGE thanks to my colleagues for their hard & clever work mlgb.bodleian.ox.ac.uk

The rebranding from MLGB3 to MLGB is a case of undersell: the print volumes of _Medieval Libraries of Great Britain_, overseen by Neil Ker and Andrew Watson, were succinct, with the detail stored on index cards. MLGB3 made that material public, and that is helpfully retained in this version.

Have you been bereft without MLGB3? It was the essential and much-used online listing of extant books from British medieval libraries. Those good people @bodleian.ox.ac.uk have been working away and have just re-launched it, with the promise of more in the year ahead:

Back in Christ Church for a day to reflect on where it began, with the change from St Frideswide's Priory to Thomas Wolsey's Cardimal College five hundred years ago this year.

The last one certainly is (you might be able to make out the captions at top of leaf). Others combined nota drawings with mnemonics; the reader's manicula is written with some skill but these...

I would have thought a better question would be how many 'i's there are in 'artificial intelligence' - but then we know AI is all about superego.

Having returned from my travels, I am catching up with news and am very sorry to hear of the death of the former librarian of Oxford's Christ Church, John Wing. He was a quietly supportive and shrewd presence, with a prodigious memory. And a penchant for chocolate
