I am deeply engaged in Against Decolonization by prof Taiwo ahead of our conversation @wellesley.edu It will be a fun convo since I lean close to the decolonization camp. I think the west & southern African timeline on independence shape our views. There are two prof @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social 😳🫶🏾

Seriously black voters in New Jersey…Woow

Have you read We Refuse? I am really leaning into the chapter on black joy as a form of resilience. I was listening to my sister-colleague @kellie talk about the Montgomery Brawl. The violence and cruelty of the original moment was overwhelmed by solidarity, humor and legal aid from black folks. ❤️

Listening to @repemilyrandall.bsky.social talk about the importance of a health care system like the one that supported her baby sister for 19 years. ❤️ so much for @wellesley.edu students to learn about.

Heartbreaking to think that keeping people alive is expensive.

I think they said no photos but who can resist this amazing faculty panel? I am inspired by my colleagues @wellesley.edu.

Really love the inclusion of Pastor Troy Jackson from Undivided. As someone who attended a lot of MEGA churches I have often find it troubling that academics hold religious conversations at arms length. The church is critical (has always been) in this political climate.

Sen Clinton: what is the role of the arts in reviving democracy?

Anna Deavere Smith: fashion in art unifies people, emotional connection- art has the power to bring us together.
(gildead age fashion heals me 💯) very well

In awe of these women. @wellesley.edu

Is anybody here?

Super excited about the week of chocolate events @wellesley.edu.

I am delighted and humbled that we get to learn from the extraordinary Jeanne Donkoh of Bioko Treats who is on campus all the way from Accra, Ghana. Her chocolates are a work of art!

We got a few customized bars 😊

I wa a feeling a little meh about the No Kings protests (mostly because of the buy pizza emails) but my goodness. My hope, faith and belief in democracy has been given another boost. Thank you to everyone who went and I did send my $20 for the pizza. We gotta feed college students.

Listening to my friend and colleague Professor Yvette Ndlovu in conversation with Shingai Kagunda on her book Drinking from Graveyard Wells. It’s a beautiful collection of short stories. If you haven’t read it please do yourself the kindness of getting a copy.

Thank you Newhouse Center ❤️

Black women, stay safe out there. Interesting that in some cases having white male colleagues is better for career trajectories for black women than having white women colleagues. In fact BW who work with WM have a higher chance for promotion.
