The only place I would make a teeny tiny disagreement is his contention that academic elites are valued for their intellect. If you’re not in my field, you really have no way to judge my ‘intellect’. What they prize is reputation, which in academia requires intellect + shameless self-promotion.

I realize you may not write your own headline, but using 'power user' there suggests the Post believes these people to be power users. I don't mean to be argumentative. I'm just looking for some reason to continue subscribing when the journalists I trusted all left.

'Power user' has a positive connotation re: computers -- they're the people who know more and get more out of their use. Why not use 'heavy users' or other neutral terms?

Late to the comments but seems to me that it's pretty hard to measure morality. Most Americans are chasing to be part of the 'in group', with none of it based in any sense of right and wrong. It's like we all have access to polls and are desperate to remain in good stead. 'Like-able'.
