I've never actually posted about this on Bluesky but over the last few years I've been novelizing the now-retro JRPG 'Skies of Arcadia," a game very dear to my heart.

The process has been gradual but I think it's a very fun read for folks looking for some adventure.

An image of the three heroes of the year 2000 Dreamcast RPG Skies of Arcadia. They all gaze out at a brilliant amber sunset. From left to right: Fina, the white-garbbed mage watches the display with a soft curiousity. The fiery red-headed pirate-gal Aika sits down beside her. To her other side is the game's protagonist Vyse, a young swashbuckler with a distinctive eyepatch (actually a goggle lens) as he admires the ever-expanding horizon.

It’s a great game and this version truly surprised me with how much it really drew me into a story I already know well!

More words from me. Kicking off this week working with my old coworkers over at Aftermath; talkin' about Silent Hill f!

Let's talk about one of the game's most memorable puzzles. It's about tricking yourself because "did something just move?"

It's also about leaning close and getting intimate...

Competition is steep but push comes to shove, I think I'd probably say this is the "best" game I've played?

As a work of design (particularly narrative *design* as well as writing) it's hard to think of something which has impressed me more. Brimming with variables and also damn fun to play!

For those of you digging FFT, today is 30 years since the game that paved the way for it to exist was released: HBD, Tactics Ogre!

Legit my favorite in the series!

Tonight's Fire Emblem update: finished Blazing Blade.

Flat out the most *fun* of any of the Fire Emblem games I've been playing as part of my syllabus. This is the best the series has ever looked and there's some GREAT maps here!

Can't recommend this one heartily enough! A great time!

When there's people being rounded up off the streets what's the point in debating the term to use?

The *only* reason you talk like this is because you're not someone endangered. If you were, this kind of academic jousting would instantly seem fruitless. Which is it!

Skies of Arcadia released 25 years ago today in Japan, gracing the Sega Dreamcast with a remarkable adventure!

A game which changed my life. And it really holds up even today! Earnest swashbuckling with a great cast of characters.

I'm still slowly novelizing the game. Read at the link below.

We'll figure stuff out!

On this radio stuff I wonder what rules there still are. We had to play a certain number of new releases and track them I think for Billboard.

Honestly helped me find a lot of "new" bands to like.

Thanks! Was really happy to get to write something for this game particularly.

Thanks to @eurogamer.bsky.social for having me and especially to @christapsell.bsky.social for being a very accommodating and easy to work with editor who allowed me to sail into some tricky waters!

Very happy and humbled to have words on the site.

Yeah, this was killer. I wanna continue with the game but I probably should circle back to finish Radiant Dawn first.

But wow, even these first handful of levels here in Thracia are great.

Played maybe my favorite Fire Emblem map ever now in Thracia 776. It's a prison break!

Rushing to open cells and chests, trading folks whatever gear you can get as reinforcements trickle in. Bonuses for getting civilians to safety. So much happening!

Really impressive for a level made in 1999.
