DNMT3A mutant cells have reduced methylation at specific loci and a distinct metabolism compared to healthy cells. DNMT3A mutant cells are vulnerable to inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation. Metformin and MitoQ can block CH clone expansion in murine and human models.

Excited to share the @goodell-lab.bsky.social News&Views on 3 exciting studies by Vassiliou Lab, Chan Lab, and @trowbridgelab.bsky.social in @nature.com and @natcomms.nature.com, showing that #DNMT3A mutant (major driver of Clonal Hematopoiesis) blood cells depend on mitochondrial respiration.

Going to ASH in San Diego! It was my dream to attend this conference when I was a PhD student and now I am going for the second time as a postdoc.

Hi! My name is Elmira. I am a postdoc in Dr Goodell’s lab in Houston. Working on leukemia development, epigenetic deregulation in blood cells, clonal hematopoiesis. Doing CRISPR in primary cells and cool imaging.

I am sharing my science journey on different platforms since 2014.
